Privacy Policy
Effective Date: March 31, 2026
Two Secret Weapons (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the mobile applications AxeWatch, Prologue, RetroStats, and LabPing (collectively, the “Services”). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Services.
1. Our Philosophy
We believe that your data belongs to you. Our applications are designed to be “pass-through” tools. We do not operate a cloud backend, we do not use tracking pixels, and we do not monetize your personal information. If we ever decide to change our “zero-data” stance (spoiler: we won’t), we will update this page and provide a notification within the apps.
2. Data Collection and Usage
We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our own servers. Our applications function entirely on your local device and communicate exclusively with your own hardware, self-hosted servers, or specific third-party APIs you authorize.
- LabPing (Local Network Data): The app communicates directly with your specified IP addresses, domains, and ports. Ping history, latency statistics, and node configurations are stored locally on your device. We do not track what services you run or intercept your network requests.
- AxeWatch (Local Device Data): The app communicates directly with your Bitaxe mining hardware via your local area network (LAN). Data such as hashrate, temperature, and pool settings are fetched from your hardware and displayed within the app. Your miner data is never transmitted to us or any third-party servers.
- Prologue (Self-Hosted Data): Any data processed by the app (such as library metadata, playback progress, or login credentials) is stored locally on your device or sent directly to your self-hosted Audiobookshelf instance. There are no intermediaries.
- RetroStats (Third-Party API Data): To function, this app requires your RetroAchievements username and Web API key. This information is stored locally on your device and is used exclusively to authenticate and communicate directly with the official RetroAchievements API. We do not intercept, store, or transmit your API keys or gaming data to our own servers.
- No Personal Information: We do not require account creation on our end, email registration, or any personal identifying information (PII) to use our Services.
3. Permissions and Background Access
To provide the core functionality of our apps, specific device permissions are required:
- Network Access (All Apps): Required to discover and communicate with Bitaxe miners on your Wi-Fi/LAN, connect to your local Audiobookshelf server, fetch data from the RetroAchievements API, or monitor your self-hosted nodes via LabPing.
- Storage Access (Prologue): Used to download audiobooks for offline playback and to cache album art and metadata locally.
- Foreground Service / DATA_SYNC (AxeWatch & LabPing): Used to maintain a stable connection with your hardware (AxeWatch) or continuously ping your homelab services (LabPing). This allows the apps to provide critical thermal alerts or downtime notifications even when backgrounded.
- Notifications (AxeWatch, Prologue, & LabPing): Used to alert you of hardware and server issues (AxeWatch, LabPing) or to display media playback controls (Prologue).
4. Third-Party Services
We use standard platform services for app distribution, monetization, and specific app features:
- App Stores: Platforms like the Google Play Store and Apple App Store manage app installation and In-App Purchases (IAP). They may collect data as governed by their respective privacy policies.
- RetroAchievements API: RetroStats communicates directly with RetroAchievements.org. Your use of this feature is subject to the RetroAchievements Legal & Terms.
- No Analytics or Tracking: We do not use third-party telemetry, advertising IDs, crash reporting services, or analytics frameworks (such as Firebase Analytics or Mixpanel) that phone home to us.
5. Data Security
Because your data remains on your physical device, local network, or self-hosted server, the security of your information relies primarily on your own infrastructure and device security. We recommend using strong device passwords, keeping your firmware updated, and ensuring proper SSL/TLS encryption on any self-hosted servers.
6. Children’s Privacy
Our Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “effective date” at the top.
